The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s Pops series has always been one of its most, well, popular for many years. But what exactly IS the pops?
Did Arthur Fiedler really start it all? How is the pops different from what the ESO does in other concerts?
The Pops edition of Symphony 101, hosted by ESO Music Resource D.T. Baker, is a fun and informative presentation that goes into everything pops. We’ll go back to the beginning of orchestral pops, learn about the ESO’s pops history, and find out how pops concerts come together.
Plus, there are lots of musical highlights of the 2011/12 season of the Robbins Pops, so you’ll get a taste of all the great music to come. And there’s time to ask the questions you always wanted to, but never had the chance.
